Accelerating escalator maintenance at Bekasi station, DJKA assures completion this month

Bekasi (02/02) - The Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation, through the Jakarta Railway Engineering Center (BTP), is conducting escalator maintenance at Bekasi station as part of the improvement of passenger services. This maintenance is being carried out as part of the routine maintenance of the station infrastructure and to follow up on escalator conditions that require repair.

BTP Jakarta Director Ferdian Suryo said the maintenance was conducted overnight on Thursday 1 February 2024 on platforms 3 and 4 at Bekasi. "Alhamdulillah, now the escalators can be used again by the community, hopefully it can facilitate the mobility of the community at Bekasi station," Ferdian said.

As for 1 (one) escalator at the north side of the station that still needs maintenance, it is expected to be completed by mid-February. Meanwhile, other escalators at Bekasi Station are operating normally and ready to serve passengers.

The repairs also include the replacement of the handrail and its components, Ferdian said. This maintenance is carried out with the involvement of 5 (five) technicians from the manufacturer, who are directly supervised by DJKA staff from BTP Jakarta.

On the occasion of the inspection held at Bekasi station on Thursday (01/02), Railways Director General Risal Wasal said that DJKA will ensure that the escalator repair can be carried out faster so that it can be used by the public immediately. 

"On behalf of the government, we apologize to the public for the inconvenience caused by the escalator maintenance," Risal said. 

Regarding complaints from the public, Risal expressed his appreciation for the active participation in monitoring the development and improvement of services in the railway sector. "We are very open to the criticism and suggestions submitted to us so that we can evaluate the development we are doing in this sector," Risal concluded. (DA/HJA)
