First Time in Southeast Asia, KCJB Rail Installation Officially Begins

Jakarta - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi attended the inaugural installation of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail, which was held at the Tegalluar Depot, Cimekar Village, Bandung Regency, Wednesday (20/4).

On this occasion, the Minister of Transportation, accompanied by the Director General of Railways and the Director of Railway Infrastructure, expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the support of all relevant parties so that the construction of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail can run smoothly.

"Appreciation and thanks for the support of all parties so that this initial installation can run well," he said.

Furthermore, the Minister of Transportation said installing the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail uses a different technology.

Before the rails are installed, the rails are connected every 50 meters and assembled into a complete 500-meter-long rail. Thus the duration of the rail installation becomes faster. The use of high-level technology is a form of transfer of knowledge and new knowledge for the nation's children.

"The knowledge transfer process has taken place, and InshaAllah, in the future, this will become the expertise of our nation," he explained.

The Minister of Transportation hopes that all work processes can run well, and by the end of 2022, so that the dynamic tests can be carried out.

"We hope that by the end of this year, Mr. President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, and the leadership of China will be able to carry out trials of this work," said the Minister of Transportation.

Meanwhile, Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi, President Director of PT KCIC, added that the progress of the fast train work had reached 82 percent, with a target of completion in 2023.

"So far, machinist training has been prepared for the operation of fast trains, which is a collaboration between the Ministry of Transportation and PT KAI," he added.

The Jakarta Bandung High-Speed Train has a traffic length of 142.3 kilometers which will be built from Halim Jakarta Station to the Tegalluar Depot, West Java. This collaborative project between the governments of Indonesia and China uses high-level transportation technology for the first time in Southeast Asia.

In addition to helping the mobility of the community with a short travel time, the presence of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail will also grow the economic sector around the area it travels.
