THE MOTIS PROGRAM IS AGAIN IMPLEMENTED, DJKA: REDUCE THE RISK OF TWO-WHEELED ACCIDENTS

Jakarta (20/04) - The Free Motorcycle Transportation Program (Motis) is being held again by the Government through the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation after two years of not being implemented due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. In this 2022 Motis transportation, DJKA appointed KAI Group through KAI Logistics to serve the 2022 Motis transportation with a transportation implementation time from 26 April – 09 May 2022.

Director General of Railways Zulfikri said this program was the Government's effort to accommodate people's enthusiasm for the homecoming. "Based on a survey conducted by the Research and Development of the Ministry of Transportation, it is predicted that as many as 85 million people will travel back and forth this year. Of course, we need to anticipate the great enthusiasm of the community so that the homecoming  can be carried out comfortably, safely, and creates a sense of happiness," said Zulfikri.

Furthermore, Zulfikri explained that the MOTIS program was held to reduce the number of homecomers using two-wheeled vehicles. Because, it is feared that the homecomers will face a high safety risk if they force themselves to go home with two-wheeled vehicles. To attract public interest to switch from two-wheeled vehicles and take advantage of the MOTIS program, it will also be opened for passengers who go home by bus/travel, not only  to train passengers who already have tickets that have been implemented so far.

In his remarks, Zulfikri added that health protocols still need to be enforced in implementing this MOTIS. So that prospective MOTIS participants are encouraged to continue to comply with the applicable travel requirements in accordance with the Circular Letter of the Minister of Transportation Number 39 of 2022, which has been added to the Circular Letter Number 49 of 2022 so that they can prepare themselves well before the trip by fulfilling the terms and conditions that have been set.

KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo said the KAI Group fully supports the Motis program to provide services to homecomers who want to bring their motorbikes to their hometowns. We will maintain the trust of homecomers who will properly send their motorbikes by train through excellent service and prioritizing safety.

"KAI Group is ready to participate in improving the safety of homecomers by providing a series of Motis trains. By using trains to transport passengers and goods, congestion on the highway can be reduced and improve the safety of homecomers during the Lebaran 2022 homecoming transportation period," explained Didiek.

President Director of KAI Logistics, TLN. Ahmad Malik Syah explained that KAI Logistics accepts registration for Motis transportation from today until May 8, 2022, by adjusting the availability of quotas. Participants can register online via bit.ly/motis2022 or directly by visiting designated stations.

"This is the second time that KAI Logistics has been re-assigned as an expedition/implementer of free motorbike transportation activities. We are delighted to be involved and be part of a series of homecoming activities where this is the first homecoming during the pandemic. We have ensured the readiness of operational support, both facilities, human resources, and systems readiness for the MOTIS 2022 transportation. We are ready to transport 9,280 motorbikes for home and return flows in accordance with the quota provided by the government," concluded the man who is familiarly called Malik.

This MOTIS transportation serves various routes with round trips (PP). It is available on two lines, namely the North Cross starting from Jakarta Gudang Station, Cirebon Prujakan Station, Tegal Station, Pekalongan Station, Semarang Tawang Station and the Southern Cross starting from Jakarta Gudang Station, Cirebon Prujakan Station, Purwokerto Station, Kroya Station, Kutoarjo Station, Lempuyangan Station, Klaten Station, Purwosari Station.

In this MOTIS transportation, the Government provides a daily quota of 928 motorcycle units that are transported using 2 (two) trains with a series of 8 (eight) baggage carriages (Carriage B) and will run every day during the homecoming period on 26-30 April 2022, followed by a return period on May 5-09, 2022. During delivery, participants can also independently track through the KAI Access application or the kalogistics.co.id website by entering the delivery receipt number.
