The Strategic Plan (Renstra) for the Field of Railway Traffic and Transportation for 2020 – 2024 is a planning document for the Echelon II work unit of the Directorate of Railway Traffic and Transportation for a period of 5 (five) years. The Strategic Plan for Railway Traffic and Transportation contains objectives, targets, strategies, policies, programs and activities in accordance with the duties and functions of the Directorate of Railway Traffic and Transportation which are prepared by referring to the National Medium Term Plan (RPJMN) and the Ministry of Transportation's Strategic Plan for Railways. year 2020 – 2024.

In the preparation of the 2020-2024 Railway Traffic and Transportation Strategic Plan, besides being based on the duties and functions of the Railway Traffic and Transportation Directorate, it also pays attention to strategic issues in the Railway Traffic and Transportation sector and the outcomes to be achieved in period 2020-2024.

In June 2021, the Decree of the Director General of Railways number HK.209/2/6/DJKA/2021 has been stipulated regarding Program Performance Indicators and Performance Indicators of Work Unit Activities within the Directorate General of Railways where changes have been made to performance indicators to be outcome-oriented. In this regard, a revision of the Strategic Plan for the Railway Traffic and Transportation Sector was carried out to adjust the activity performance indicators and targets for the 2020-2024 period.

It is hoped that all ranks of the Directorate of Railway Traffic and Transportation can participate in the success of the vision and mission of the Directorate General of Railways and the Ministry of Transportation in supporting inter-regional connectivity and improving transportation services in Indonesia.
