Ministry of Transportation extends the application of the GeNose Domestic and International Travel Health Protocol to be Implemented on Long-Distance Trains Beginning February 5, 2021

Jakarta – The Ministry of Transportation issued a Circular Letter of Instructions for the Implementation of People's Travel for domestic and international transportation modes, referring to the issuance of two (two) Circular Letters by the Covid-19 Handling Task Force, which includes the extension of the application of health protocols for domestic and international travel from today, 26 January, to February 8, 2019.

"Referring to the policy of the Covid-19 Task Force that considering the high level of Covid-19 transmission in Indonesia, an extension of the implementation of strict health protocols for people's travel both domestically and internationally from January 26 to February 8, 2021," explained Adita in Jakarta, Tuesday (26/1)

The two Circulars of the Covid-19 Handling Task Force issued on January 26, 2021 are Circular Letter Number 5 of 2021 concerning Extension of Travel Provisions for Domestic People During the Corona Virus Disease (Covid-19) Pandemic and Circular Letter of the Covid-19 Handling Task Force Number 6 Years 2021 concerning International Travel Health Protocols During the Corona Virus Disease (Covid-19) Pandemic Period.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transportation responded by issuing five circular letters, four of which were for domestic travel, namely Circular Letter 8 of 2021 (Land Transportation), Circular Letter 9 of 2021 (Sea Transportation), Circular Letter 10 of 2021 (Air Transportation), and Circular Letter 11 of 2021 (Sea Transportation) (Railways).

Meanwhile, for international air travel, the Ministry of Transportation has issued 1 (one) Circular Letter, namely Circular 12 of 2021.

Adita explained that the five Ministry of Transportation Circular Letters were essentially the same as the previous Circular Letters, which expired on January 25, 2021.

However, there are several additions, including: First, the obligation of individuals who will travel by train must show a certificate of GeNose or Rapid Test Antigen or RT-PCR examination results stating negative for Covid-19 whose samples are taken within a maximum period of 3x24 hours. before departure time for intercity train trips on the islands of Java and Sumatra.

"On February 5, 2020, the operator will begin implementing health checks via "GeNose" on the train mode, which will commence in two cities initially, namely Jakarta and Yogyakarta, whose station points will be decided by the operator," Adita added.

Second, random tests using the rapid test antigen or GeNose on the river, lake, and crossing transportation and public motorized vehicles, including inter-state transportation, inter-city inter-provincial, inter-city within a province, inter-provincial shuttle, and tourism, are regulated in the land transportation mode.

"This Circular's implementation can be examined at any time," Adita stated, "according to the situations and dynamics that occur in the field."

All transportation operators are required by the Ministry of Transportation to follow all regulations and provide proper socialization to all members of the society. The Ministry of Transportation continues to appeal to prospective passengers to be able to respect the laws and always follow health measures.
