BUMI SRIWIJAYA LRT STATION PROVIDING READING CORNER
Mr. Rode Paulus, head of the South Sumatra Light Railway Management Center, and Ms. Fitriana, head of the South Sumatra Provincial Library Office, officially launched the Reading Corner at Bumi Sriwijaya South Sumatra LRT Station. This program aims to foster a culture of community literacy in the station's public area by providing digital reading nook library services (POCADI). The newly opened Reading Corner offers a wide range of books suitable for people of both genders. There are now 215 books accessible, ranging from general to historical collections. While waiting for the LRT train, visitors can read publications such as comic books, novels, or scientific books. It is important to remember, however, that books in this reading corner can only be borrowed.
In addition, there is also a digital library at Bumi Sriwijaya Station. Visitors can enjoy thousands of books contained in national and regional library collections. With this digital library, people can easily access various reading materials that are useful for knowledge and entertainment.
The Head of the South Sumatra Light Railway Management Center, Mr. Rode Paulus, said, "We expect that with the presence of the Reading Corner at Bumi Sriwijaya Station, people can be increasingly encouraged to love the world of literacy. Through easy access and a variety of reading options, we hope to develop people's interest in reading, especially the younger generation, and increase their understanding of knowledge and culture."
Meanwhile, the head of the South Sumatra Provincial Library Office, Mrs. Fitriana, also added that the reading corner at Bumi Sriwijaya Station is one of the efforts of the South Sumatra Provincial Library Office to socialize literacy and make it a part of everyday life. By providing convenient and attractive access in a strategic location, we hope to encourage more people to read and increase literacy interest in the region.
The inauguration of the Reading Corner at Bumi Sriwijaya LRT South Sumatra Station is an important milestone in advancing the literacy culture in South Sumatra. It is hoped that the presence of POCADI and the digital library will provide great benefits to the community, especially in increasing their knowledge, creativity, and understanding of the wider world through the reading materials available. The Reading Corner at Bumi Sriwijaya LRT South Sumatra Station can be accessed by anyone and is expected to be a facility that raises the interest in reading and their love of literacy for the people of Palembang City.
