THE DIRECTORATE GENERAL OF RAILWAYS CONDUCTS A SAFETY INSPECTION IN CIREBON IN ORDER TO IMPROVE SAFETY

BANDUNG –As an effort to improve the safety of train users, the Directorate General of Railways through the Railway Engineering Center for the West Java Region conducted a Rail Safety Inspection in the Cirebon DAOP 3 working area on Thursday, April 1, 2021.

"This inspection activity is actually routinely carried out by the Directorate General of Railways, but considering the long weekends and the prediction of an increase in the number of passengers during the month of Ramadan, as well as bad weather that has recently hit several areas, our inspections are intensified," said Dedy Cahyadi, Director of Railway Safety. .

This safety inspection is carried out in vulnerable areas, namely Haurgeulis Station and Terisi Station by reviewing the sinking location at KM 138+5 – KM 138+8 between Cilegeh Station – Haurgeulis Station. The subsidence occurs due to the unstable structure or condition of the subgrade so that it is not strong enough to withstand the load, the impact of extreme weather that often occurs lately.

Inspections in Vulnerable Areas are also carried out by reviewing the bridge at BH 374 KM 162+6 – KM 162+7 between Terisi Station – Telagasari Station. There was a landslide on the side of BH 374 due to being eroded by heavy river water. Other safety inspection activities are also carried out by examining Operational Facilities and Certification of HR (Human Resources) at Prujakan Station and Kejaksan Station.

The basis of the activities that have previously been carried out in the work area of ??DAOP 2 Bandung, refers to the Letter of the Director of Railway Safety regarding Railway Safety Inspections, referring to the Letter of the Cabinet Secretary of the Republic of Indonesia regarding Submission of the Development of the 2020/2021 Rainy Season and the Letter of the Chairperson of the KNKT regarding Recommendations for the Safety of Railway Bridges. .

"This activity is not only carried out in DAOP 3, but in all working areas, both DAOP in Java Island and DIVRE Sumatra Island, the goal is the same to ensure passengers are safe through the available Minimum Service Standards," concluded Dedy.

Also attending the Safety Inspection activity were the Head of the West Java Regional Railway Engineering Center, VP DAOP 3 Cirebon, the KNKT Team (National Transportation Safety Committee), as well as academics who are experts in the field of rail safety while still complying with health protocols.
