Reviewing the Progress of the Bogor-Sukabumi Double Track Railroad, Minister of Transportation: Phase 1 Bogor-Cigombong Targeted for Completed in March 2022

CIGOMBONG - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi together with Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, on Sunday (14/11), reviewed the progress of the construction of the Bogor - Sukabumi double-track railway. The Minister of Transportation said that the construction of phase 1 of the double-track railway from Bogor - Cigombong is targeted for completion in March 2022.

"We are here to ensure that transportation infrastructure development continues in the midst of a pandemic, as directed by President Joko Widodo. With the completion of phase 1 of the Bogor-Cigombong double-track railway project, it is hoped that passenger and freight transportation can be more productive," said the Minister of Transportation.

The Minister of Transportation revealed that the revitalization and construction of the Bogor - Sukabumi double track train is very much needed by the community, given the high level of passenger and freight mobility needs between the two cities.

With the Bogor - Sukabumi double track later, it will cut the travel time from the previous 2 hours to only 1 hour 20 minutes. Then, increase the frequency of passenger trains from 6 trips to 12 trips and the frequency of freight trains from 2 trips to 8 trips. Increase the number of sets from 6 to 8 sets. As well as, increasing the number of passenger capacity from 2844 people/day to 5688 people/day and cargo carrying capacity from 648 tons/day to 2592 tons/day.

The Minister of Transportation together with the Minister of PUPR also reviewed the Bogor-Cibadak toll road construction project, to see the progress of development which is part of the Bogor-Sukabumi toll road construction project.

On the same occasion, the Minister of Transportation and the Minister of PUPR also invited the machinists and train travel organizers to have breakfast together, as well as giving gifts as a form of appreciation to transportation personnel who are still enthusiastic about carrying out their duties even in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
