DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE TRAIN ACCIDENT IN EASTERN ODISHA - INDIA

A train accident in India between the Coromandel Express and the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express that occurred on Friday, 2 June 2023. The Minister of Railways of India, Ashwini Vaishnaw, said that the accident that occurred in 2 passenger trains and 1 freight train in eastern Odisha last Friday occurred because it is suspected that there is a change in the electronic interlocking system which refers to the signaling system used by trains. In addition he said an investigation into the incident would show who was responsible.

It is known, the death toll from train collisions in India continues to grow. So far, at least 288 people have died and more than 850 others have been injured in the horrific collision. The train accident in the eastern Indian state of Odisha is the country's deadliest train accident and the world's worst in more than 20 years.
