Baperka Cares About Education: Accepts Vocational School Industry Visits

Grobogan – Serious about taking part in the development of the world of education, the Railway Maintenance Center carries out various educational work programs for school children. After previously busy serving educational tours (edutrain) which was intended mostly for kindergarten children, recently the Railway Maintenance Center received industrial visits from vocational high school students. The industrial visit came from the Yasiha Gubug Vocational High School (SMK), on Monday (21/10/2024) at the Ngrombo Workshop located in Toroh District, Grobogan. 
This visit was carried out to improve the competency of vocational school students in the context of implementing vocational education related to the link and match program. 
The activity was attended by 174 students with 16 accompanying teachers. 
This activity was opened by the Head of the Public Service and Education Implementation Team for the Railway Sector, Joko Wahyu Setyawan, in the Ngrombo Workshop area, Railway Maintenance Center. 
During this visit, the team implementing public services and education in the railway sector at the Railway Maintenance Center divided the number of students into three groups. Each of these groups was then directed to three locations in the Ngrombo Workshop and changed locations every 30 - 40 minutes. 
The location for the visit was carried out in the CC 300 Hall, Workshop Building, and Supporting Facilities Warehouse. In the CC 300 Hall Room, Yasiha Vocational School participants received several presentation materials from resource persons who were part of the team implementing public services and education in the railway sector.
The presentation material includes the profile of the Railway Maintenance Center, the differences between the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), knowledge related to railways and State-Owned Facilities (SMN) managed by the Railway Maintenance Center, as well as various types of maintenance related to facilities. and railway infrastructure. 
Furthermore, at the Workshop Building, Yasiha Vocational School participants received various information directly in the field regarding the equipment in the workshop building and mechanical room, various state-owned facilities in the Railway Maintenance Center (especially at the Ngrombo Workshop), existing tracks/empplacements at the Ngrombo Workshop and each function, as well as being able to see ongoing maintenance activities at the workshop. 
Meanwhile, at the Supporting Facilities Warehouse, Yasiha Vocational School students received information regarding various types of heavy equipment owned by the Railway Maintenance Center (especially at the Ngrombo Workshop), the function of each heavy equipment, the advantages of the heavy equipment owned by the Ngrombo Workshop. cannot be found on heavy equipment outside the workshop, as well as maintenance activities for the heavy equipment.
At the end of the event, one of the team members implementing public services and education in the railway sector gave a quiz and door prize for three people in the form of a t-shirt with a picture of the CC 300 Locomotive, with a challenge if they could answer the questions correctly. 
By carrying out this industrial visit, it is hoped that it will bring benefits and increase insight for all vocational school students, especially insight into railways. And it can also provide a reference for vocational school students regarding the world of work in the railway sector, or alternative places for Field Work Practice (PKL) activities around Grobogan or specific jobs in the railway sector.
