Thursday (07/09) Class II Palembang Railway Engineering Center and PT KAI Divre IV Tanjungkarang collaborated to educate the public about safety at crossings, due to the high number of accidents at Bandar Lampung level crossings throughout 2023.


In order to make the public aware of the importance of safety at level crossings, the Palembang Class II Railway Engineering Center held a safety outreach with the theme, "SOCIALIZATION REGARDING THE ROLE OF GOVERNMENT IN ORGANIZING SAFETY AT RAIL-TO-ROAD LEVEL CROSSINGS at the Novotel Lampung.


This activity was carried out with the aim of educating road users about how important it is to obey the regulations at railway crossings so that undesirable things do not happen. This campaign takes place at the KM 16+954 level crossing, Jl. Untung Suropati, Bandar Lampung City, Lampung Province.


"Based on recapitulation data from the Palembang Class II Railway Engineering Center, it was recorded that there were around 25 accidents that occurred at level crossings in the period from 2020 to the second semester of 2023. Responding to the above conditions, handling safety improvements at level crossings should become a common concern among those who involving the participation of all parties in it." Said Yofi Oktarisza as Head of the Palembang Class II Railway Engineering Center


"We also hope that today's activity can become a forum for friendship to facilitate coordination so that improvement, maintenance and monitoring activities at level crossings can be right on target and managed according to the authority of the Central Government, Regional Government and other relevant stakeholders." he continued.


This activity was attended by the Head of the Lampung Province Transportation Service, the Head of the Bandar Lampung City Transportation Service, the Head of the Bandar Lampung City Resort Police, the Head of the Jasaraharja Branch for the Lampung Province Region, the Executive Vice President of Regional Division IV Tanjung Karang, the Lampung Province Train Lovers Community.
