Director-General of Railways leads The 4th Indonesia-Russia Working Group on Transportation and Infrastructure

(Jakarta 6/10) The Director-General of Railways, Zulfikri today chaired the 4th Indonesia-Russia Working Group on Transportation and Infrastructure Meeting which was accompanied by the Head of the Center for Facilitation of International Cooperation and Partnerships (FKKI) of the Ministry of Transportation, M.I.  Derry Aman, and was attended by other officials at the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia as a delegation from Indonesia. This virtual meeting discussed the continuation of the discussion on the RI-Russia cooperation plan in the field of Transportation and Infrastructure which had previously been discussed and held in Moscow, Russia on July 24-25 2018. host in this meeting, which is unfortunate enough to have to do it virtually due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, which is still happening globally, including in Indonesia and Russia.” Zulfikri opened the meeting.

In this agenda, Indonesia presented various transportation infrastructure projects in the PPP scheme that were offered to the Russian side. "Following the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo regarding development plans, especially in the transportation and infrastructure sector, we invite to discuss the continuation of the cooperation plan with Russia in increasing the development of multi-transportation infrastructure starting from Sea, Air, Land and Railway transportation through cooperation with the PPP scheme. ." Zulfikri said.

The railway sector will focus on the construction phase of the MRT line, which includes the Kalideres-Balaraja, Ujung Menteng-Cikarang, Lebak Bulus-Cabe-Rawa Buntu MRT lines. In addition, cooperation in the railway sector is also offered to the Russian side for the construction of urban trains and freight trains in Sumatra. As is well known, cooperation between Indonesia and Russia in the railway sector has previously been carried out with JSC Russian Railways through PT. Borneo Railways (KAB) to build a special railway line for coal in East Kalimantan but stopped. However, the Ministry of Transportation still welcomes the plan from the Russian side through JSC Transmashholding in the development of the railway sector to invest in Indonesia in the long term.”

In addition to the transportation and infrastructure sectors, this meeting also discussed the potential for cooperation in human resource development, especially in the field of vocational education and training for teachers, staff and Academy and Polytechnic cadets under the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation. The Indonesian Ministry of Transportation also intends to invite the Russian side to collaborate and synergize in mutually beneficial cooperation for the development of human resources in the transportation sector which aims to improve the quality and competence of transportation human resources in Indonesia.”

The delegation from Russia, represented by Kirill Igorevich Bogdanov, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation welcomed all offers of Cooperation discussed in this meeting. The event was then closed with the signing of an agreement from both RI-Russia representatives which was signed virtually.
