DIRECTORATE GENERAL OF RAILWAYS TAKE ADJUSTMENT TO TRAIN TRAVEL RULES, PCR TEST IS NO LONGER REQUIRED

Jakarta (03/11) - The Directorate General of Railways has readjusted the rules for rail transportation travel following the improving conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. The regulation adjustment, which was issued through the Ministry of Transportation Circular Letter Number 97 of 2021, complements the other three circular letters of the Ministry of Transportation which were issued simultaneously on Tuesday (02/11). "The issuance of these four circular letters simultaneously revokes the previous one which is no longer valid," said Director of Railways Traffic and Transport, Danto Restiawan, in Jakarta (11/3)

There are several new provisions for train travel regulated in the circular letter of the Ministry of Transportation Number 97 of 2021, among others, travelers using inter-city trains from and to areas within the island of Java and outside Java are required to show a vaccine card (at least the first dose of vaccination) and a negative result. rapid test antigen whose samples are taken within a maximum period of 1 x 24 hours before departure. "Previously there was a clause on the use of RT PCR, but now it is not required," said Danto.

In order to ensure that the adjustment of this rule can be understood and obeyed by the public, Danto asked train transportation operators to disseminate information to passengers. In addition, Danto hopes that operators of rail transportation facilities and infrastructure can work well together in enforcing and supervising the implementation of this rule. "This circular letter of the Ministry of Transportation is set and comes into effect effective today, Tuesday, November 2, 2021, until a time will be determined later and can be extended according to the needs and/or the latest developments in the field," he concluded.
