Ciremai Measurement Train Starts Stabling at Railways Maintenance Office Workshop

GROBOGAN -- Unlike usual, a train with a dominant appearance of yellow and blue paint on the roof and bottom edge of the train appeared in front of Ngrombo Station, Grobogan, on Thursday (25/03/2021) afternoon. The dimensions of the train measuring 20 meters and 3 meters wide add a dashing impression and are easy to attract attention.

The reason is that the presence of the Measure Train numbered SU 3 14 01 (Ciremai) is a rare sight. This scarcity makes it special when it is on a highway or public railway line, because it is only issued for special purposes.

The head of the Ngrombo Station then assisted in escorting the Ciremai Measuring Train to enter the Railways Maintenance Center rail line. After being handed over to the officials of the Railways Maintenance Center, the train was then passed on the number four rail line entering the area of ??the Railways Maintenance Center Workshop building.

The Ciremai Ukur Train has been stabling at Jatibarang Station, Indramayu, West Java. Since all train lines from the Ngrombo Station line to the Railway Maintenance Center workshop can already be operated at the end of 2020, the arrival of the train with this special equipment category adds to the list of state-owned railway facilities that are stabling at the Railways Maintenance Center.

The transfer of the train from Jatibarang Station to the Railways Maintenance Center in Grobogan, Central Java, is effective for five hours. The train departed from Jatibarang Station at 09.17 WIB, traveling at speeds varying between 50-100 km/hour, passing several railway stations on the northern line.

Had a stop at Semarang Poncol Station at 12:47 WIB to change the driver and arrived at Ngrombo Station at 13:57 WIB. According to the machinist of Semarang Poncol Station Mahasfin, the train journey from Jatibarang Station to the last stop at Ngrombo Station went smoothly according to the set schedule.

Since it was completed by PT INKA in 2014, the Ciremai Measure Train has been instrumental in serving the measurement of railway lines in the area of ????the island of Java. In 2017 it was moved from the stabling location of PT INKA Madiun to Jatibarang Station.

The Ciremai Measure Train is a railway facility that is not used for the transportation of passengers or goods, but for special purposes, such as inspection trains, auxiliary trains, crane trains, and railroad maintenance trains.

At first glance, the function of this train is quite clear when reading the inscription on the body of the train, namely: "Measurement Train" with the logo of the Ministry of Transportation on the nose and front side of the train, and the identity of the Directorate General of Railways and the name "Ciremai" are attached.

However, the trains made by the nation's children are not used to measure the length of the railroad tracks, but to measure the feasibility of the rails, and are state-owned railway facilities owned and managed by the state through the Directorate General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation.

Measuring Train in its use serves to calculate the geometric parameters of the railroad track. According to the explanation of PT INKA Multi Solusi Service Leadership Technician Tri Anang who handled the train facilities, the calculated geometric parameters were to determine the curvature position, rail alignment, slope, road elevation and other rail parameters.

Measurements are made through sensors located at the bottom of the train when it runs at the speed determined at the time of measurement by adjusting the condition of the rail line being measured. The data from the sensor is then converted in the form of a graph that is processed by a computer with special software. All graphic data is then converted again into values ??called track quality index.

"From that value, it will be known which rails are in decent condition and which points require repairs," explained Tri.

For the purposes of documenting and matching data, the measuring train is also equipped with a CCTV monitoring camera at the front, to record the path traversed.

The measurement is based on the condition of the rails that can change from their ideal shape, or are deformed due to material damage and weather factors. Material damage can be sourced from broken rail pads made of wood, iron, or concrete that have the potential to change the width of the rail.

In addition, there is a factor of extreme hot weather that can make the rails expand beyond the distance that has been given at each connection. This will cause the rails to collide with each other and eventually bend. Such a condition is a potential hazard that can cause a train accident because it can cause slipping, slipping, falling, and toppling over.
