THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF RAILWAYS VISITS STATIONS IN WEST AND CENTRAL JAVA TO ENSURE THAT THE HEALTH PROTOCOL IS RUNNING PROPERLY.

Jakarta (2/1)–To break the chain of transmission of COVID-19, particularly during the Christmas 2020 and New Year 2021 celebrations, guidelines for the implementation of people's rail transportation during the Christmas 2020 and New Year 2021 celebrations have been established in order to suppress the spread of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). , through the Circular Letter of the Task Force, Circular Letter of the Head of the Task Force for Handling COVID-19 Number 3 of 2020 concerning the Health Protocol for Traveling People During the Christmas Holiday and Welcoming the 2021 New Year During the Corona Virus Disease Pandemic. This decision was followed by the Minister of Transportation's Circular Number SE 23 of 2020 Instructions for the Implementation of People Travel by Rail Transportation During the Christmas Period of 2020 and the New Year of 2021 During the 2019 Corona Virus Disease Pandemic (covid-2019).

To monitor the Circular's implementation, the Director-General of Railways, Zulfikri, conducted a review of several stations, including Kiara Condong Station, Bandung Station, and Purwokerto Station, beginning in the New Year 2021. Previously, Director General Zulfikri reviewed the Cirebon Prujakan, Jatibarang, Solo Balapan, Yogya, Tegal, Poncol, Malang, Gubeng, and Madiun stations at the end of 2020. The goal of monitoring is to determine how well the regulations are being implemented in the field. "We want to see how operators implement this rule, particularly the rapid antigen test, which is the main requirement for people traveling during the Nataru period." According to SE 23, the conditions for traveling by train during Nataru's transportation period are the result of rapid antigens with a three-day validity period. This provision supersedes the previous rule concerning train travel conditions based on the results of the rapid antibody test.

In terms of the field findings, Zulfikri stated that the rapid antigen test service at the station had been carried out well in general. “I admire PT. KAI for gradually conducting rapid antigen tests at a large number of stations. This is critical because it will make travel easier for prospective service users. Furthermore, this will almost certainly prevent the spread of Covid-19 between regions,” he insisted.

According to this monitoring, the average positive passenger accounts for 1-3 percent of the total number of prospective passengers who will travel. For this PT. KAI has prepared anticipatory steps, such as separating passengers from general passengers in a special room or area. Then it is offered whether the ticket will be refunded or the schedule will be changed, in which case the ticket will still be valid for 90 days. What is unfortunate is that no further action has been taken against the individual, such as being taken directly to the hospital or home. "It is unfortunate that positive passengers are not immediately quarantined in a hospital or special shelter, but are instead allowed to return home alone." Of course, there is the possibility that they will infect them on their way home,” he explained. The station's actions are limited to providing information and patient data to the local COVID-19 handling task force for further treatment.

For information on SE 23 of 2020, dated December 19, 2020, and valid from December 22, 2020 to January 8, 2021, regarding Instructions for Implementing People Travel by Rail Transportation During the Christmas Period 2020 and New Year 2021 During the 2019 Corona Virus Disease Pandemic (covid-2019). There are 29 stations that provide rapid antigen testing, including Gambir Station, Pasar Senen, Bandung, Kiaracondong, Cirebon, Cirebon Prujakan, Jatibarang, Semarang Poncol, Semarang Tawang, Tegal, Purwokerto, Kutoarjo, Kroya, Kebumen, Yogyakarta, Lempuyangan, Solo Balapan, Madiun, Jombang, Kediri, Kertosono, Blitar, Mojokerto, Surabaya Gubeng, Surabaya Pasar Turi, Malang, Sidoarjo, Jember, and Ketapang.
