Completed Railway Construction Up to Mandai DJKA Holds Celebration Event Titled Culinary At Station

Maros (10/12) - The Ministry of Transportation's Directorate General of Railways (DJKA), in collaboration with the South Sulawesi Railway Management Center (South Sulawesi BPKA), hosted a Culinary at Station event at Mandai Station from Saturday, 9 December to Sunday, 10 December 2023. The event was held to express gratitude for the connection of the Makassar-Parepare railway line to this station.

Risal Wasal, Director General of Railways, stated that this is one of the significant achievements in the construction of the Makassar-Parepare railway line. "Without the support and prayers of the people of Makassar, Maros, Pangkep, Barru, and surrounding areas, this development will be difficult to realize," Risal said. "I invite colleagues to celebrate this achievement together."

For more information, visit the Culinary at Station activity, which highlights local art activists and MSMEs as part of DJKA's commitment to the local economy. Regional Government officials from Maros, Pangkep, and Barru Regencies, as well as representatives from Commission V DPR RI and other relevant stakeholders, also participated in this activity.

Furthermore, Risal stated that once the train line is connected to Mandai Station, the train service will be extended up to this station. As a result, the Culinary at Station activity is also intended as a socialization event for the community regarding the presence of train services that will soon arrive at Mandai Station.

Furthermore, Risal stated that construction will soon continue along 14.4 kilometers with two stations to Makassar New Port. "We hope that the presence of the Makassar-Parepare train will encourage economic growth in the local community, and that more and more people will use this mode of transportation to reduce congestion," Risal concluded.
