How Far is the Manggarai-Jatinegara DDT Project? The following is the explanation of the Director of Railways Infrastructure

(JAKARTA 6/4 )- Director of Railways Infrastructure Heru Wisnu Wibowo explained about DDT Manggarai – Jatinegara when he was a resource person for the DJKA Talk, Wednesday (31/03). Double-double Track (DDT) is one of the Ministry of Transportation's projects that is targeted for completion next year.

The construction of DDT is in accordance with the grand concept of railways, namely the separation between urban railway lines and intercity railways. Because all this time, inter-city and urban rail lines use the same line, this has resulted in traffic jams in Jakarta.

"Because the level of service is different, it is necessary to separate lanes, so that the interests of each passenger are smooth. Passengers of intercity trains can directly arrive at their destination stations without stopping at many stations, and passengers of urban trains/KRL can stop at many stations.”

Later, the construction of DDT is expected to be able to facilitate community mobility, reduce train travel delays, improve the community's economy and most importantly improve the safety, comfort and security of train travel.

Currently, the progress of the construction of the Double-Double Track (DDT) phase I Manggarai - Jatinegara has reached 98%. The construction of this project includes the construction of lines and stations including Jatinegara, Matraman and Manggarai stations.

While the construction of phase II, namely the elevated track (elevated train line) is still in the process of reaching 36%. Overall, the construction is expected to be completed in 2022.

Answering questions related to the challenges faced during the construction of DDT Manggarai – Jatinegara, Heru explained that the classic problem faced was land acquisition which required special handling. But now, the problem has been well resolved.

“Land acquisition is a classic problem, because land acquisition in urban areas is a long process, but Alhamdulillah, it can run smoothly. We are coordinating with the DKI Regional Government, PT KAI and related stakeholders to carry out land acquisition and control," he said.

At the end of the event, the Director of Railway Infrastructure invited DJKA's friends to not only use the existing facilities, but also to maintain and maintain so that the existing facilities can be used properly.

“DJKA is still 15 years old, but its role is quite large in the development of the national railway. I hope that later my friends will help by maintaining the stations that have been built by not littering, and taking care of the existing facilities.”
