The Government is Committed to Encouraging the Use of Mass Transportation by Signing the PSO Agreement for Jabodebek LRT in 2023

Jakarta (07/12) - To reduce congestion, the government, through the Ministry of Transportation, continues to be committed to encouraging a shift in community mobility from private vehicles to mass transportation. This was stated by the Director General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation, Risal Wasal, at the signing of the Subsidy Contract for the Implementation of Integrated Light Railways (LRT) in the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi Regions in 2023 on Thursday 7 December 2023, at the Jabodebek Halim LRT Station.

Risal stated that the government has provided various incentives to attract public interest, such as in the Jabodebek LRT, as part of its efforts to encourage this shift. "We have budgeted Public Service Obligation (PSO) funds of Rp 119.793.951.000,00 (nearly Rp120 billion) in 2023, specifically for Jabodebek LRT," Risal said.

For information, the amount of PSO is in accordance with the subsidy contract signed by Director General Risal and President Director of PT KAI Didiek Hartantyo today. "The signing of the Jabodebek LRT subsidy contract is a tangible manifestation of the government's presence in the community through affordable rail services," Risal explained.

Didiek emphasized that KAI is dedicated to completing this PSO assignment as efficiently as possible. "We are ready to carry out the mandate given to us by the Ministry of Transportation, in this case, the Directorate General of Railways, following the contract for the Jabodebek LRT," Didiek said.

Didiek assured that, in keeping with the spirit of PSO implementation, KAI will continue to improve facilities and other services by coordinating and collaborating with relevant parties. "KAI will continue to support the government in improving community services by presenting integrated public transportation so that people can travel comfortably using mass transportation," Didiek said.
