Padang - As a regulatory agency under the Directorate General of Railways, Ministry of Transportation, Republic of Indonesia, the Class II Railway Technical Centre (BTP) Padang offers full support to strengthen the ecosystem of the Ombilin Coal Mine Heritage Site in Sawahlunto (WTBOS). This is reflected in BTP Padang's active participation in all Galanggang Arang activities organized by the Directorate General of Culture, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.

"We fully support all activities aimed at preserving the cultural heritage, which has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 2019. We will strive to maintain various positive activities so that future generations can continue to enjoy the present cultural values," said Hendrialdi, Head of BTP Padang, in his statement.

"With the support and cooperation of various parties, both from the central government, local governments, and other stakeholders, including the local community, we can work together to preserve the existing cultural values. In addition, we must ensure the continuity of historical sites and cultural heritage so that future generations can enjoy and understand the history and significance contained within them," Hendrialdi added.

For your information, as part of the WTBOS World Heritage designation, the railway line plays a crucial role in connecting the coal mines in Sawahlunto, passing through various districts and towns, and leading to Silo Gunuang, all under the jurisdiction of BTP Padang.

"We hope that in our efforts to protect this cultural heritage, we can all as citizens ensure that we preserve it without damaging or stealing this valuable national asset," he concluded.
