Timely Performance of Sumbar’s Trains Reaches 99%

Padang – The Padang Class II Railway Engineering Center (BTP) has conducted monitoring and evaluation of the 2023 Train Schedule (Gapeka) to assess the punctuality and performance of train operations in West Sumatra (Sumbar), focusing on three popular trains in the region: the KA Lembah Anai, KA Minangkabau Ekspres, and KA Pariaman Ekspres.

This evaluation is in line with BTP Padang's main duties as outlined in the Minister of Transportation Regulation No. PM 36/2022, which includes overseeing railway safety operations.

The monitoring aimed to determine whether the trains were on time, if there were any delays, or if any unusual events occurred. This data helps BTP Padang improve services for train users.

“Especially with the upcoming Lebaran holiday, monitoring the Gapeka is crucial because we anticipate an increase in passengers during the holiday period,” explained the Head of BTP Padang, Endang Setiawan, in a statement.

Based on the monitoring conducted by members of the Traffic, Facilities, and Safety Division, it was found that on the day of the monitoring, the actual frequency of passenger train services was 100%. The average on-time performance rate was 99%, as most trains departed ahead of their scheduled times according to the Gapeka.

“If there were any delays, they were due to temporary technical issues that did not significantly affect train operations,” he added.

The Head of BTP Padang expressed hope that train services would continue to run on time, providing the best possible service for passengers. (RAH)
