THE CIRAHONG BRIDGE WILL BE CLOSED TO FOUR-WHEEL VEHICLES ON THE FIRST OF SEPTEMBER

(Bandung 28/8) -The Cirahong Bridge (BH 1290) which is located at Km.283+745 is a bridge connecting Tasikmalaya Regency and Ciamis Regency which has a technical age of 128 years by 2021, so it is deemed necessary to mitigate risks related to the strength of the bridge structure.

This Cirahong Bridge is very popular in the people of West Java. Many of them use the bridge inspection route as an alternative route that connects Ciamis Regency with Tasikmalaya Regency because it can save about 1 hour compared to the main road.

The bridge closure policy was a joint decision at a meeting between the Directorate General of Railways, West Java BTP, PT KAI DAOP 2 Bandung, West Java Province Transportation Agency, Tasikmalaya Regency Transportation Agency, Ciamis Regency Transportation Agency, Tasikmalaya Regency PUPR Service and Ciamis Regency PUPR Service.

There are 105 steel bridges in the Daop 2 area of ??Bandung which have an age of over 100 years and are of common concern, and according to the KNKT's recommendations, it is necessary to audit the bridge structure or forensic test the strength of the bridge structure, both in the construction of the bridge and under the bridge construction.

While waiting for the results of forensic tests or infrastructure analysis, preventive measures are needed by closing permanent access for four-wheeled vehicles, and from August 1 to August 31, 2021 a loading test has been carried out on the Cirahong Bridge.

So starting September 1, 2021, access to the Cirahong Bridge will be closed to four-wheeled vehicles. This closure aims to ensure the safety of train travel that passes over the bridge and also to ensure the safety of road users under the bridge. And currently, the Cirahong Bridge is only allowed for users of two-wheeled vehicles and pedestrians.
