Strengthening Asset Protection, BTP Padang Conducts Night Monitoring

Padang –In an effort to strengthen the protection of railway assets, Balai Teknik Perkeretaapian Kelas II Padang (BTP Padang), through its Sawahlunto Service Unit (Satpel Sawahlunto), has intensified security measures by conducting night surveillance in its operational areas, including Batu Tabal, Solok, Sawahlunto, Muaro and Logas.

BTP Padang has identified the inactive railway lines in the Sawahlunto service area as high-risk areas for the theft of state assets and the presence of illegal structures. As a result, asset surveillance and security efforts have been strengthened by the introduction of night patrols.

"Previously, we regularly conducted socialization, routine monitoring, and asset surveillance using maintenance vehicles ( lorries). However, to further minimize asset theft, BTP Padang, in collaboration with other stakeholders, is now also conducting these activities at night," said Hendrialdi, Head of BTP Padang.

According to Hendrialdi, the limited number of personnel and the need to protect state assets require a joint effort. It cannot be the responsibility of just one party. Everyone, including the local communities, must share the responsibility of protecting these assets.

"Coordination with various parties, such as the police, local government, and community leaders, as well as direct engagement with local people, has been carried out so that each stakeholder can carry out their duties according to their respective authorities. Now it's time to raise awareness and work together to protect and not damage state assets," he added.
