Si Eman, the Safety Mascot who Likes to "Make Friends"
Padang - Did you know that the Directorate General of Railways has a Safety Mascot named Si Eman? It turns out that Si Eman was born in Padang City, more precisely born at the Office of the Class II Railway Engineering Centre in Padang.
Si Eman is the result of a competition held by DJKA as a pioneer of safety at level crossings several years ago.
The mascot, which comes from the Javanese word ‘eman’ which means love, implies that we must love ourselves or our lives when crossing railway level crossings.
Born in Padang City on 16 November 2022, Si Eman has the zodiac sign Scorpio with a persistent and determined character. Hopefully, Si Eman can be persistent with his determination to urge people to always be safe at level crossings.
Si Eman also has the same favourite colours of red, black, blue, and yellow as the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia. His hat is dark blue, then his head and hands are red, then yellow for the colour of his body and black for the colour of his feet.
Not to forget, Si Eman also has a hobby, which is to invite motorists and pedestrians who want to cross the railway level crossing to always cultivate Berteman, which is to stop for a moment, look left-right, be safe, and then walk. Berteman can also mean make friends in Bahasa Indonesia.
Eman will be very happy if the community cultivates this in order to reduce the number of accidents at level crossings, which is still very high in West Sumatra.
