MINISTER OF TRANSPORTATION REVIEWED SOLO-JOGJA ELECTRIC TRAIN, GENOSE AT YOGYAKARTA STATION AND SIMPANG 8 JOGLO IN SOLO

Yogyakarta, Sunday 28 February 2021-The Minister of Transportation together with the Directorate General of Railways and their staff and PT KAI and its staff review the Solo-Jogja Electric Train. The Minister of Transportation departs from Solo Balapan Station at 16.16 and arrives at Yogyakarta Station at 17.24. “This KRL is one of the future of mass transportation. Hopefully the service will be better. Although there was an increase in the number of stations from 7 to 11 the speed increased from 72 minutes to 68 minutes. The trains are relatively rock-free and I'm very happy that the number of passengers has also increased. Therefore, I appreciate what PT KAI and the Directorate General of Railways have done to finish and improve service quality. It is hoped that in the future this KRL can be continued to Kutoarjo for the west direction, and to Madiun for the east direction. So you can imagine that people who live in Madiun can work back and forth in Yogyakarta or vice versa,” said Minister of Transportation Budi Karya

After arriving at Yogyakarta Station, the Minister of Transportation reviewed the GeNose service process at Yogyakarta Station. The GeNose detection tool developed by UGM is now operational in several places as an early COVID-19 screening tool, one of which is at Yogyakarta Station. “I also saw Genose's handling. I also see that it is getting better, the space is wide, the inputs from all of this are accommodated and this is done for the good.”

Before reviewing the Solo Jogja KRL, the Minister of Transportation together with the Mayor of Solo Gibran Rakabuming reviewed the Joglo 8 Junction or Joglo Cross which currently causes traffic jams in Solo City. “In particular, I and the Mayor of Solo visited the Joglo intersection, which is currently causing traffic jams. We hope that in two years, we can improve this joglo intersection with an elevated rail with a height below the axle of about 6 meters. And we will continue the work for 2 years.” said the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya.
